Emerging Drug Trends / Drugs of Abuse
With the ever increasing number of new drugs, substitute drugs, designer drugs, and non-traditional drugs being manufactured, imported, and used by today’s drug culture, law enforcement is faced with the challenge of keeping up with these emerging drug trends and new drugs of abuse. Many of these drugs, like MDMA and LSD Substitutes, DMT, DXM, Kratom, and Salvia Divornorum, are not covered in the traditional drug training curriculum. Additionally, emerging trends in the club and party scene are not well known to law enforcement.
This course will provide the attendee with the knowledge to identify, recognize the symptomology, methods of ingestion, and paraphernalia associated with use of these drugs, and discuss the legal aspects of dealing with persons in possession of and/or under the influence of these drugs. The course will also discuss the current trends with the club and party scene, as well as misc “Medicinal Marijuana Programs” (MMP).
